Still riding high from his success of winning the British Super Twins drag racing title last year, Black Bear customer Joe Elliott has got off to a flying start on his 1125R this season.
Although the championship rounds have yet to start - they are due to begin in May - Joe has been continously competing over the winter months and into the spring, improving on last year's times thanks to several new modifications to the bike.
And having set a personal best time of 10.15 secs at Santa Pod in March, he has just clocked an even faster time, setting a new PB of 10.04 secs over the quarter-mile strip. "This is an awesome bike!," said Joe afterwards.
And his fast times have earned him praise from Erik Buell himself, who congratulated Joe on his success after the racer emailed him with news of his personal best time.
Speaking of his March PB, Joe said: "I only entered for a bit of fun. All the other bikes were four cylinder rice burners with long swing arms and then there's me on my stock length street legal 1125R with an exhaust and mapped race ecu! But my Buell is a really impressive machine and it suprises a lot of people to see a street bike going that quick."
Joe bought his 1125R from us last year and competed it in the 2008 Super Twins Street Modified ET championship, racing over the quarter-mile strip. And from a top speed of 133mph last year he is now clocking over 140mph!
